Licensed for distribution (and subtitled/dubbed)in North America by Viz Communications, Inc. In the first episode, we meet Ranma Saotome and his father. They both have an unusual affliction: when splashed with cold water, they change form; Ranma turns into a young girl and his father turns into a panda bear. They return to "normal" when exposed to hot water. Ranma is to marry one of the three Tendo girls as part of an agreement made by Ranma's and the Tendo girls' fathers years earlier.
