Moab 2K+1: Story and Photos...
Day 4 (later):

Picture: A massive hail/snowstorm on the top of one of the passes that we had to drive through in Utah. There was a very sudden transition from no snow to this much snow. (several inches). I'm glad there was a tractor-trailer doing some trailblazing for us! (it's scary when your car starts sliding side-to-side when you're moving at 80MPH!

Picture: A nice view from the highway.

Picture: from the storm comes a *great* photo op. Rays of light passing through the mist. It looked better in person, though.

Picture: A little later on, driving through sleet just after merging onto another freeway which would take us the rest of the way into St George.

When we got the first McDonalds in St George, Stan was (or course) not there. We pulled all the bikes off the back of my car to get at my backpack to find my cellphone so that we could call Stan. Well, my cell's battery had died. It was *dead*. I could barely get enough time out of it to write down Stan's number on a gas receipt before the phone would go into discharge-mode. Stan was quite annoyed at us for not calling him to tell him we'd be late. Oops. An hour or so later (after 50km of drafting big trucks on our last eighth of a tank of gas, we were gassed up again and at the Circus Circus Manor hotel on the strip in Vegas.

Picture: Even the McDonalds on the strip looked like it belonged there!

We wandered around for a while on the strip, and eventually ate at a buffet at the Holiday Inn on the strip. Cost was US$6 or so... My "medium" steak was rare, and one of the other guys' medium-rare steaks was well-done... Not exactly the best meal, but it was filling and only $6.

Continue to DAY 5!
